FOURTEEN

TIANA

When Liam Morton told her he had an amazing idea, Tiana thought it would be something lame. Something he might have picked up from his teenage students.

Her skepticism was misplaced. Liam’s idea wasn’t lame at all. It was a stroke of genius. It was the ultimate piss-off for stuck-up guests. Mr. and Mrs. Morton wouldn’t know what hit them. The wedding they had so carefully planned to impress every person they knew was going to be unrecognizable.

And to think that it was the simplest idea!

Liam beamed at her as she giggled. “You might actually be a genius,” she said.

His chest puffed out a little bit. “I’m glad you approve.”

“I don’t just approve. We are doing it. Can you imagine? Oh, my god. We will have the best wedding party dance ever. No waltz. No stuffy music. An all-out dance number in the middle of a reception! Your parents might die from the anger. Are you sure you’re okay with that?” she teased.

He nodded quite seriously. “Most definitely. I feel terrible for how they treated Elisabet at dinner last night. The dance will not just be entertaining because of us, but there will be pyrotechnics and fireworks.”

Liam even wanted to book a celebrity singer. That went a bit above what Tiana thought was necessary, but at least she knew he was all in. He might not have been close to his parents when he was growing up, but he was loyal to Michael, and she thought that was a good sign for Elisabet’s wedding vows with her own warlock.

As Liam and Tiana tucked into their waffle breakfast, Tiana made a list of all the things that needed to be changed about the wedding. The list was very long and more than a little overwhelming. At least she had help.

The first item was also the most important and most pressing. They didn’t have a lot of time in which to do things. “The wedding dress,” Tiana sighed as she tried to find a solution for this. She was at a loss, but she wasn’t going to give up. “Elisabet hates her dress. She wanted a tea-cup length dress because she wants pictures in the water.”

“Mom made her get a long train, didn’t she?” Liam asked with a knowing nod. “The more flash, the better.”

Tiana snorted. She didn’t agree with that at all. “Apparently, it will take four imps to walk the train down the aisle. Because that’s what every bride wants. Four imps holding her dress, shouting gimme, gimme, because they weren’t paid enough candy corn tips.” She rolled her eyes.

“Any chance we can hem the dress?” He threw his hands up in defeat when she arched a brow at him. “Silly question. I get it. Let me write a few emails. A couple of my old students started a clothing label when they left school. They might be willing to help, or at the very least, they might have a suggestion.”

Tiana scoffed with good humor. “Of course, your students love you enough to keep in touch when they graduate.
